Evening one-time parking in Greenwich CT

I need to leave my car in Greenwich, take the train to NYC to have dinner with some friends, and then to come back to Greenwich later in the evening and drive away. This will be in the middle of the week, arriving in Greenwich around 4pm and returning to Greenwich late in the evening.

It's been a couple of years, but in the past I've been able to find a spot in the lot behind the train station or on Steamboat Rd. A few quarters would take care of the meter until the end of the meter day. In the fuzzy google street view the signs on Steamboat look like they are saying 2 hrs max, but the end of day time is unreadable. What is the current end of the meter day? Are the meters still good for 2 hrs? Is this scenario still possible?

There are a couple of private lots up Greenwich Ave but their official closing time (per their web site ) is early in the evening and, obviously, I need to retrieve my car.

Thanks

I agree that Port Chester can be better, but as the link lalex pointed to, I would check the schedule at the Capitol Theater before committing to PC. If Phil and Friends or some other popular band is playing that evening, there will be big competition for spots.

If it doesn't have to be greenwich, there used to be plenty of parking in south norwalk. Might be worth a shot if you're driving by.

Response by poster: Thanks everyone. At first I thought portchester was a good idea, but I see that the Lawn boys (whoever or whatever they are) are playing at the Capital on Wed. I'll call the Greenwich Town Hall on Monday for details on the parking meters. I could always drive into Manhattan as a last resort.
