Good places to buy men's gloves in midtown and the lower east side

What are some good places in Midtown and the Lower East Side to find men's winter gloves? I work in Midtown and want to hunt for some on my way home to Brooklyn this evening.

Criteria:
Natural looking materials that will be useful all winter (if you could help me define what it means for gloves to be "useful all winter", that would also be very helpful)
reasonably fashionable and fitted (this is for a mid-twenties musician)
touchscreen friendly if possible

I'm already planning on hitting up Uniqlo and REI (SmartWool!) but I'd love to hear from New Yorkers who have a tried and true brand that they trust. Budget goes up to $60, higher if you can make a really good argument for a specific pair.

Many thanks!

One thought is the Icebreaker store in Soho - I think it's on Wooster St. They make great merino wool winter wear, not sure what their glove options are like.

Is Union Square on your way home? My first stop would be Nordstrom Rack.

The Union Square holiday market stalls have several excellent glove sellers, especially for things like leather (I've bought men's gloves there) or alpaca gloves. They're open all this month until Christmas. Also great for other winter items or gifts!
