This otherwise perfect second-hand suit I just bought has a few tiny white (threadbare?) spots near the bottom of the jacket. I want to wear it to an interview on Wednesday. Hope me?
Suit's color is brownish-grayish-- not sure if that's even a possible color, but darned if that's not exactly how I'd describe it. Has a few small spots, near the bottom of the jacket, where the wool has rubbed away, ranging in size from about half a flaxseed to a full flaxseed-- these spots are basically thready white. Is there anything I can do to make them look less...white? I have half a mind to just take a brown magic marker carefully to them-- it's not like anyone's going to be looking up close-- but maybe that's a terrible idea.
Side idea-- if it's possible, which it's probably not, I'm going to try and get a same-day hemming of the sleeves. Could the tailor save the fabric and...somehow transplant some eensy pieces?
My wardrobe is limited and this suit is basically what I'm working with for the interview-- my other options are ill-fitting, so I'd rather have a good fit with a few low-to-the-ground blemishes than look clownish in a suit that's the wrong size. Honestly I'm basically either going to fix this or rock those little white spots like they're a fashion choice. So I'd love to fix it!

Best answer: If you can't find the right color magic marker, consider an eyebrow pencil.

Response by poster: Geniuses, you're geniuses! Not being a makeup wearer, my mind hadn't even gone down that path, but fingersandtoes' suggestion made me realize that it's perfect-- existing in all sorts of minutely-different tones and a lot less permanent than something like marker in case I were to fuck it up.
I now own the prettiest suit jacket in all the land, sporting a few dabs of sparkly dark gray eyeshadow near its bottom hem. It wouldn't hold up to intense scrutiny, but it looks way, way better and doesn't have the whole LOOK AT ME I'M A WHITE SPOT thing going on. Definitely didn't expect to be able to resolve this so quickly, easily, and to my liking!-- thanks!

Response by poster: (Yeah, they'll tell you you're not supposed to wear a brown suit to an interview...then again they'll probably also tell you your sumptuous suit is undeserving of BEAUTIFUL GLITTERY EYE SHADOW. Fuck you I won't do what you tell me!)

I got the job last time I wore a brown suit to an interview, FWIW. (And that was the time I had to sew a button back on the jacket while I was sitting in traffic on the way to the interview. I rule!)

You can "fix" makeup on with some hairspray, at least on skin. Test this on an interior bit of jacket fabric first of course! Then it should come out with water, but not rub off on other stuff throughout the day.
