A Mother Is.....

I am planning mother's day presents. The only thing I can say is that I need mother-related phrases. More details inside.

I was basically raised by my dad, so I haven't had vary many mother-experiences.

However! I do now have a great step-mother and a mother-in-law. Mother's day is the 12th and I am going to make gifts. (Last year I made crochet rose bouquets is vases for them.)

I can't say what I'm doing but I can tell you what I need! (Step mother is a mefite, however she knows I'll be doing something so this isn't much of a spoiler.)

I need mother sayings! Short enough to fit on a small canvas area. I have Googled this, but many phrases about mothers are really long (full sentence). I am looking for those cute sayings that you see on wall hangings or those pillows. "Grandmas are rainbows and hugs!" Those sorts of things.

I am also okay with "Mother: Adjective, Adjective," .. But I can come up with that on my own, I wanted to see if anyone had cute shorter sayings too!

I need two, one for step-mom, one for mother-in-law. I am also going to describe them to see if that sparks any cute sayings or brainstorms from other people.

Step-Mom:
-Sweet
-Artist
-Selfless
-Caring
-Bakes Cakes
-Great Cook
-Has tattoos
Funny Notes: We joke about her age sometimes. She is right in-between my age and my dad's age. I have already joked about it. She also can really draw/paint, whereas my dad can't so a joke abou that could be good too?

Mother-in-Law:
-Nurse
-Funny (unintentionally, she is very typical MIL, could be on a sitcom)
-Caring
-LOVES ladybugs
-Battling me to catch up on tattoo numbers (not going to happen...)
Funny Notes: Kind of sides with me against her son (Agrees he is whiney when he's sick and doesn't throw things away) There could be something there..

I don't shy away from humor, so they can be sweet or humorous, or a mix of both. Again I would like them short - a few words or a short sentence.

Both gifts will be from myself and my husband, although my family knows anything crafty was all me and he just sends his sentiment or calls them to wish them "Happy... Day" So therefore if it's more mother-daughter (than mother-son) related that is fine.

Oldie but goodie:

M Is for the Many things she gave me,
O Means only that she’s growing Old.
T Is for the Tears she shed to save me,
H Is for her Heart of purest gold.
E Is for her Eyes with love light shining,
R Means Right and Right she’ll always be.

Put them all together, They spell MOTHER.
A word that means the world to me.

“To a child's ear, "mother" is magic in any language.” - Arlene Benedict

“A mother is the truest friend we have…”- Washington Irving

“A mother understands what a child does not say.” - Jewish Proverb

Mom is another word for love.

A mom's hug lasts long after she lets go.
