Stacking, storing, eating, lidded bowls

Does this exist? Bowls for eating (like, cerealish size) that stack reasonably well and come with lids (and/or plates made to fit neatly on top of the bowl) so you can use the same bowls to store food - in place of Tupperware?

Yes, Pyrex definitely has this! Not sure if they have any sets that are JUST those bowls, but they certainly have what you are looking for.

There are some Duralex bowls in their "Lys" line that would work, like these - there are other sizes, too.

Yup. Crate and Barrel has other sizes/shapes that are like this.

Check out Kitchenaid. We have a set that we got free with a standing mixer that are exactly like this, except they're nested (4 of various sizes)

Anchor Hoching makes round bowls in 1, 2, and 4 cup sizes with matching lids. Corningware has a kind of mug-like thing (it's wider and flatter than a regular mug...maybe more like something you would have soup in) with a lid, too. I'm sure both companies make other dishes that would work, depending on your style and size requirements.

Alternately you could get Lekue silicone lids that will stretch to fit many sizes of bowls.

I bought those Pyrex ones off Woot, and was very disappointed with the fit of the lids. I'd try elsewhere.

You can also find covers for Corelle bowls, but they aren't as tight of a seal (not really tight at all) as you'd find with the Tupperware containers.

Corningware also has these--you can get them at Walmart. I have a number of them, some of which have lids that are microwaveable with little reclosable steam vents. They're both oven-proof and straight-sided, so great for things like souffles.

Response by poster: Some good answers, but mostly more storagey looking than I'm thinking. Tully monster's suggestion is the closest to actual dishware so far. Any more in that vein?

I bought mine the local fred Meyer (sorta like a nice wal mart) and am very, very happy. Lids fit tight and have totally replaced my gladware.

A different approach - there are silicone lids that make an airtight seal with whatever bowl you use them on (the link is an example, I haven't tried those specifically).

Are you good with vintage and glass or pottery lids? Look for old soup bowls/crocks -- these milk glass thingies are not that rare and would not be hard to amass a good quantity of with a little eBay/Etsy work. And there must be some nicely designed modern soup crocks that aren't so crock-y? Maybe.

Take a look at [vintage] Pyrex "fridgies" -- storage-y but also so charming as to perhaps be of appeal?

I've seen a number of things like this at Container Store, although I'm having trouble locating them on their website right now. I know I saw ceramic bowls, white on the inside and brightly colored on the outside, with snap-on plastic lids. If you have a Container Store near you, go take a look around their kitchen section. They're good for this sort of thing, even if they no longer carry the exact item I'm thinking of.

They're not fancy, but they're colorful, inexpensive, and don't look storage-y:

Luminarc bowls are pretty great and they come in lots of sizes. Again they may not be exactly the dishware you are looking for but they do stack well unlike many of the other options.

I have these floral storage bowls and I love them. The glass isn't super thick, so while it makes them a bit less sturdy, they also look a less storagey than a lot of the above options. The lids are plastic and fit well - I haven't experienced any leaking, but I'm also not super hard on them.

I bring lunch to work every day, and they're the perfect size to go in a lunchbox. Plus, they stack nicely in our cupboard.

I was just coming here to recommend the Fishs Eddy bowls that meggan suggests -- they're perfect for exactly what you're describing. Definitely not as sturdy as Tupperware or Pyrex, though (we have the set and have broken a couple over the years), if durability matters to you.

When I read your question I instantly pictured the stack of blue willow patterned cereal bowls I have in my cupboard. But with lids. How cool that would be.
Given the answers here, I have to guess that, no, they do not exist.

We got some cheap ones from Walmart. They're clear glass, round, fairly straight sides, clear plastic lids. Great as cereal bowls or storing left-overs. We're probably being too cautious but we don't use them in the microwave as they seem a bit thin for that. They're fine in the dishwasher. They lack any makers marks/brand names, sorry.

I think Tupperware actually does exactly what you're looking for - their cereal bowls.

Tupperware microwave cereal bowls

In Australia they're called Tuppercare Everyday Bowls and come in these colours.

You can also find them in lots of colours on ebay if you just search for "Tupperware cereal bowls".

I have 4 and the bowls and their lids stack really well. And nothing compares to the Tupperware seal.

The Pyrex bowls are great for eating. I eat with them all the time! And I've never had a problem with the lids fitting...

These do exist! I have a set of Corelle dishes including bowls like this with lids like this.

They're great for storing stuff in the fridge but not ideal for transport -- they'd probably leak if I tried to fill them with soup and throw them in my bag to take to work.
