comfy rug for comfy feet

I want a comfy, comfy rug that is soft and feels nice on my feet. I would also like it to look nice! Any recommendations?
It's for the living room of a one-bedroom apartment, but we'd like one that we can keep when we eventually move into a bigger place. The 4'6' to 6'x'6 range would be best for us.
The room we're looking to put it in is very colorful (hardwood floors with red walls with black and gold brocade hanging on them and a ceiling that is covered in multicolored sari fabric with little LED lights behind it so that when they're on it's a starry effect), so it'd be easy to match a lot of colors to it. Warm colors would be best, though. I'm not big on "oriental" rug designs; I like geometric ones and organic shapes.
I'd particularly like recommendations for specific brands or materials we should look for if we want maximum comfiness on feet.

I've been meaning to make a doily rug like these. I can't actually confirm that they feel great under the feet, though. It could definitely be done with any doily design, so if you're into the radial/geometric, it might be a good fit.

Beni Ourain tribal rug? Oriental I guess but simple & geometrical rather than fussy and busy. Moroccan rugs are amazing.

We recently picked up a very soft, high quality 5x7 Majestic Shag rug from Costco. It's so soft that my son slept on it the first night.

Not sure if you were able to research a particular material that looked good, but I highly recommend Overstock.com for rug shopping. They have a bazillion-million in their inventory, they're cheap, and they ship very nearly for free.
