Hot happenings in Queens?

Where can I find event listings for the greater Queens area? Before I moved to Queens, I would check out places like Time Out NY, the skint, and Nonsense NYC to find interesting things to do on the weekends. But now I'm realizing just how Manhattan- and Brooklyn-centric the listings are. Does anyone know of any good sources for more local events? (We have a car, so Long Island resources are welcome too.) Or do I just suck it up and ride the F train 25 stops to go where the good stuff is happening?

Best answer: Fellow Queensian! For some general Queens listings: Discover Queens, Queens Council on the Arts, Queens Buzz. Also, I'd suggest checking the calendars on Museum of the Moving Image, Queens College, MoMA PS1, etc. It would be helpful to know what part of Queens you are in and what kinds of things you like to do.

I don't live there, but DNA Info has decent Queens stuff.

Local neighborhood sites are sometimes helpful.

I keep an eye on...

Response by poster: Pineapplicious, those are exactly the kinds of links I was looking for! I live around Kew Gardens, but am aware that it's not the most happening neighborhood, so I'm happy to get out of the immediate circle. Thanks!!

Queens Love is not a listings site -- it's a (wonderful!) food-obsessed group Tumblr -- but I've occasionally learned about cool events from it.
