Identify this board game...

Identify-this-board/card-game-filter: you play 'answer' cards and the most appropriate one wins.

I'm trying to find this card game that I played this one time, not with playing cards, but just printed slips of paper (the format for which is apparently online). The basic gist of the game was that about 75% of the cards were answers, which contained phrases (e.g. psychotic flamingoes) and the rest of the cards were phrases with a blank (e.g. A new threat is posed to the welfare of wildlife by BLANK) (except funnier than that). A question phrase (i.e. one with a blank) would be turned over each turn, and all the players would play whichever answer card they had in their hand that they thought was most appropriate. The player whose turn it was to choose the best answer would to so (once the suggestions were anonymously submitted) and the player whose card was chosen would get a point. It was hilarious.

Any ideas, mefites? (Or is that meh-feets? my-fights?...) Thanks in advance!

Apples to Apples?

Best answer: griphus is likely right, but the more fun answer is Cards Against Humanity!

If the questions and answers were R- to X-rated, it sounds like Cards Against Humanity. The site has PDFs to print your own cards.

Oh, actually, on re-reading it's almost certainly Cards Against Humanity. Did the cards include things like "Kids with Ass Cancer" and "Pooping back and forth, forever"??

The "question" cards in Apples to Apples are just adjectives, not fill-in-the-blank sentences.

Grither, yes. I'm pretty sure I played both of those cards in my most recent game.

If this is Cards Against Humanity (which is probably the best game ever, next to Dungeons and Dragons /nerd), you can also now purchase a "hard-copy" version at Amazon (although they're often sold out) as well as an expansion set. You can obviously download the cards as well, but since this is an independent effort I think it's awesome to support them if you can.

One of the best things about this game is customizing it - i.e. the card "Michael Phelps" becomes "Michael Phelps' bong" becomes "Swimming in Michael Phelps' bong."

Assuming everyone does that and I'm not just weird.

Wil Wheaton just played "Say Anything" on TableTop, which was similar to what you describe, but not quite the same.

Ah, Cards Against Humanity. Never change.

Q: What gives you uncontrollable gas?
A: Auschwitz

DulcineaX: "probably the best game ever, next to Dungeons and Dragons /nerd"

This past Sunday I was at my local game store and we were making Cards against Humanity on useless Magic cards. Except when the guy stupidly glues one on a full art Mountain. He got some shit for that.

Both games are great. Whenever I play Apples to Apples it always goes R to X rated anyway. Maybe I should stop playing with 20 year old children...

Just to be clear, the creators themselves offer the do-it-yourself version of the game at the official site. So it's not piracy or anything. Making your own set may be necessary since it's sold out. (Again! Why, oh why, wasn't the second printing larger? And why didn't I act faster?)

You can also get on an email list at the site to be notified about the next reprinting.
