Danceable remixes of songs your dad probably likes

I recently discovered this hiphop mashup of Paul Simon's Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard. Do you know of any other uptempo, danceable remixes/mashups of older songs that would normally play on the easy listening station?

Not sure if the files are still up, but I really liked Beats Never Rust, which is a nice take on Neil Young.

Best answer: I assume you know about Girl Talk, but if not, you're in for a treat.

ComaR has all kinds of crazy mashups. He has a "Tribute to Freddy Mercury" here.

Best answer: My soundcloud favourites are almost all mashups. My current more favourite remix is this george benson one.

Best answer: Bootie is a mashup dance night at a club in San Francisco. They put out Best Of CDs for each year. If you click on the individual covers of the CDs you'll see a list of the songs and also bonus tracks. A lot of it is contemporary but there are some good mashups of older songs with newer songs.

It's 25 years old now (ouch) but I still love the Bangles' version of the Simon & Garfunkel song Hazy Shade of Winter.

Best answer: These are sanctioned remixes, not mashups, but I bet you would enjoy this.

The original song isn't so much easy listening (or maybe it is these days?), and I'm not sure if it counts as a remix or a sample, but I lovelovelove this Italian hip-hop song that uses "Like a Rolling Stone" - Como una Pietra Scalciata (Like a Rolling Stone) by Articolo 31.

It's not a mash-up, but along this musical vein is De La Soul's "Eye Know" from their first album. They very skillfully break down a soft-rock Steely Dan song.

And here's a grooving house remix of a Bill Withers song.

Best answer: Diplo vs The Beatles - Shake It Up is my favorite of these.

Tom's Diner immediately came to mind. (Of course, this remix is around 20 years old now - yikes!)

Me First and the Gimme Gimmes are a side band/supergroup who does pop punk versions of old songs, many of which fit exactly into the "stuff your dad likes" category. This includes "Me and Julio" off of their "Have a Ball" album, which is mostly '60s/'70s songs.
