Help me not be an ass when applying sound to moving/interactive images.

Would you please suggest literature that deals with the theory or practice of scoring music and sound to moving images.
I'm a video game and software developer looking for writing that people have done regarding the theory/practice of applying sound and music to film, stage, digital interactive media, animation, commercial media, (concepts behind musical theater, opera, sound signatures are also accepted) etc. Thanks

Kathryn Kalinak's Film Music: A Very Short Introduction is a clear theoretical overview. Julie Hubbert's Celluloid Symphonies has lots of great source material.
