Man from China. Painted mural. Maybe in Minneapolis.

A question about a mural supposedly painted by a man from China at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts.

I visited the Minneapolis Institute of Arts last December. One of the period reproduction rooms included a chinoiserie-type mural. As far as I can remember, the detail said that a pastor (?) brought a man from China to paint the mural authentically. I had taken notes then which I have since lost. I have been trying to confirm the existence of this mural, and the details of it online, but am having no luck! I think I do not quite have the right search terms for google or the institute's site. Help me find out more about it please!

I'm going to the MIA this weekend. Do you remember which specific period room it is? I can take a look and report back.

The MIA regularly does online Q&A sessions with its curators, advertised on their Facebook page. You may want to join one of those.

I think you're referring to the wallpaper in gallery 328. I seem to recall it was hand painted in China.

I used to work on their web site and I'm kind of embarrassed that I can't find it on there :/

The MacFarlane room was the one I was thinking it was going to be, just couldn't remember the name. GO MSP!
