I want to hear new horns.

Let's have some non-traditional brass band recommendations
or jazz bands/blues bands, whatever. I don't care as long as it has some big metal horns in it. Maybe like Youngblood Brass Band.
Special request: Not Mucca Pazza.

Presumably you have heard of the Canadian Brass, right? They do classical and Dixieland.
I suppose those are both "traditional", in a sense, but it isn't the Sousa-style Brass Band sound.

Brass Menazeri. None of the live clips I found have great sound, but they're a killer band, especially live. They play Balkan and Gypsy music with some New Orleans-type brass sounds.

SOUL REBELS!
Oh wow, there's not much on Youtube, but try this.
My favorite song of their's is "We Be Rollin." I can't find it streaming online, but it is part of a mixtape I made for a friend. You can listen to it here on Mixcloud. Just scroll to the 32:00 mark and feast your ears on BIG. ASS. HORNS.
Also, how's this for less traditional: South Asian-inspired jazz. Red Baraat is just a non-stop party live. If they come through town, go see them. Two more vids: Tunak Tunak Tun; at the Montreal Jazz Fest.
For more, just scroll through any band with the word "brass" that's played at Rhythm and Roots. Just about all of them are winners.

Oh, and for a more stripped down, slightly hipper brass sound, try this trio: Moon Hooch (more). Not sure if they're still playing subway platforms, but it looks like they've made it big. They're doing a tour later this fall and playing at some pretty nice venues.

March Fourth. Don't let the marching band thing dissuade you.

Mnozil Brass is pretty different. And seconding Darcy James Argue, he's amazing.

Barbershopping In Brass
Close harmony like barbershop sounds great on brass instruments because they can fine tune the notes to lock and ring chords like singers can.
