hip hop fans -- looking for a hip hop song, heard it on nyc subway, some kids were playing it. All I've got is that it starts with a police siren, and has a very danceable beat!

Help!

Odds are decent that it's Childish Gambino's latest single, Bonfire. Funnily enough, you may know him as Donald Glover; he's in Community, wrote for 30 Rock, and was a member of Derrick Comedy for a while.

Probably not, but Sirens by Dizzee Rascal? It's UK grime from 2008, and on re-listen, it's not so very danceable. The Chase & Status remix changes it a bit, but not really a "dance" track, still.

It's fairly common for hip-hop radio and mixtape DJs to add intros and drops and say their name over the records and stuff, so the starts-with-a-siren thing isn't as helpful as it might be in another genre. And 'danceable beat' probably describes the vast majority of hip-hop songs ever recorded.

Do you remember anything else about the song? Hook, chorus, samples, snippets of lyrics, anything like that?

Probably not Ring The Alarm (Beyonce)?

Response by poster: ack, good songs all, but not it. I'm thinking now that maybe they were playing a home brew mix... thanks for the suggestions though, all.
