How to move songs in a playlist to an external drive on a Mac?

How to move a single playlist worth of music from my iMac to an external drive... ?

I have a playlist with 8000+ songs in it. I want the songs on an external hard drive. I do not care about the "playlist" features of the list (order of songs, playcount, etc.)

The playlist only exists as a collection of songs I want to put on the drive.

It appears Apple doesn't like external drives and only wants to let me move it to a dvd or cd.

Any suggestions?

Best answer: Open the playlist in iTunes.
Select all the files you want to copy.
Drag these songs to the target drive.

Response by poster: Tried that. It didn't work. It gives every indicationt that it's going to work (green + sign when over the drive) but when I let it go, nothing happens.

Response by poster: Crap. It works if I do it in small bunches instead of all at once. Grrr.

Thanks 3wayHS.
