Health, Healing, and Nutrition resources for the average human

Please help me find good sources for health, healing, and nutrition information online.
On my free time, I love watching documentaries and reading articles on health, healing, and nutrition. What are some good free sources online?
I like reading the BBC health and sometimes the NY Times, and I've found a few documentaries on Netflix. What are your favorite resources?
I'm looking for sound, scientific information without reading a whole peer-reviewed journal article (this is supposed to done on my free time / while procrastinating).
But please no doomsday, scare-tactic-filled, specific-diet recruitment or buy-this-supplement stuff either.
I'm primarily looking for online resources, but if there are any books that you'd highly recommend, I'd love to hear about them as well!
THANK YOU!

Best answer: Light reading: House Call Doc and Nutrition Diva from Quick & Dirty Tips.
Marion Nestle has a blog and also shows up now and then in the Atlantic food section.
Scienceblogs often comment on published research in health and medicine (among other scientific disciplines).

Best answer: Science Based Medicine (a bunch of medical researchers and doctors talk about medicine with scientific support)
White Coat Underground (family practice doc who talks about that and also about current research)
Musings of a Distractible Mind (similar, but unfortunately shut down for now--his many years of archives could keep you busy for awhile)
Doc Gurley (famous for her post about lost tampons, but overall good doctor stories with more of a public health focus)

Best answer: Generally paleo-centric, because that's what the science supports.

Best answer: Gary Schwitzer's HealthNewsReview blog is an excellent addition to any reading list about health. It's a good inoculation against the fearmongering, marketing hype and other species of nonsense that one is inevitably exposed to when reading about new and interesting things on the internet.

These sites do advocate more or less specific diets, but they all write well about the science behind their recommendations, and are a breath of fresh air / not the usual "eat low fat and whole grains" conventional wisdom. No scare tactics.
