Scuba in Tunisia

Looking for recommendations on good dive shops in Tunisia.

It looks as though I'll be travelling to Tunisia for business next month and I'd like to stick around for a few days after work finishes to get in some diving. Has anyone been diving there before? I'd be curious to know how it is, what sites were good, and what dive shops you would recommend I use or avoid.

Also, any wrecks that are must-sees?

It's been a few years, so I can't remember the name of the shop. The two things I can remember is that the Med was a lot colder than I expected in April, so if they offer you (or you have) a cagoule, wear it :-) Also, the shop I went to, it wasn't their policy to give every diver a backup reg, something that we as relative novices had been warned about. In general my memory is that the safety standards weren't as stringent as I had been accustomed to from my PADI certification.

As for what there is to see, unfortunately we didn't do a wreck dive, and the dive itself wasn't that memorable. FYI, we were in a smallish resort just north of Sousse, and took the dive trip on a whim.

Response by poster: That's an excellent start. Thanks for the info and the heads up on backup regs! Odd, that.
