I need to find a room to rent in San Francisco. Is there somewhere aside from Craigslist that I should be looking? Thanks!
Nope, it is all about craigslist, particularly in San Francisco.

I get my apartments pretty much through an extended network of friends, colleagues, etc. - if you have any peeps in SF already, it's worth putting out a note to them letting them know what you're looking for. There seems to be a high preference for friends of friends on the rental market, so you might be able to pick up something that hasn't hit craigslist yet.

Response by poster: Thanks, folks, that's pretty much as expected, but I thought I would check in case you other mefites knew something I didn't :)

I'm starting to look in SF too, and craigslist definitely seems to be where it's at.
There are a couple tools that can make it easier to use though (man is SF CL high volume!). These both plot craigslist ads onto a map, have lots of great filters, etc.
