Why You Naughty Little Tart

NameThatRecipeFilter: this is a long shot. But it's KILLING ME. I came across a recipe for a miraculous, WONDERFUL-sounding savory tart/pie/thingie. Then I lost it and couldn't find it again. And instead of delicious tart, I am only tasting bitter, bitter tears. HELP!

Horribly Vague Details:

- This tart had a savory shortbread (or pate sablee) crust which included pepper.
- It was topped with what I THINK was squash/pumpkin (I could be wrong!), onions (I believe) and some form of cheese (I think).
- I came across this recipe within the last four or five years.
- It was on someone's personal blog - most likely a cooking blog.
- The recipe did NOT originate with the blogger in question; it was developed by a notable restaurant chef (I want to say a lady-chef, ala Judy Rodgers or Suzanne Goin).
- Apparently all of the components fused and melded together SO wonderfully in the oven and the end product was SO good that one bite would make your eyes roll back in your head hard enough to make your optic nerve go SPROOOOOING! like a bungee cord.

Hrm. Based on your description of the crust and the recipe's noble origins, I don't think it is actually this butternut squash, caramelized onion, fontina, sage galette from Smitten Kitchen, but I'm passing on the link anyway just in case. (And even if it isn't the right one, you should make it anyway. It is fantastic.)

This kind of fits everything except the pepper in the crust. Do you recall what the accompanying photos looked like, by any chance? I want to have sproingy optic nerves too.

Best answer: I came here to suggest the same galette that dorque linked to (because it is SO AWESOME even if it's not the one you're looking for.)

Is this it?

FWIW, you basically can't go wrong with anything from Smitten Kitchen. =)
