songs quoting love?

I'd like to sign my friends' wedding card with a great quote about love from a song. Caveat: wink and a nod to "cool" songwriter?

My friends are getting married, i'm trying to sign their card with something clever, coming up short.

They are both musicians, plus one is a music writer and one is a DJ, music is big in their lives. I'd like to quote a song about love, but not in first person (ie, i love you, you love me) but from an outsider's perspective (ie, love is patient, love is kind).

also, this is embarrassing, but i would like it to be from an obscure and/or cool song. Songwriters i/they would think are cool include: Morrissey, Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave, Iggy Pop, Willie Nelson, David Bowie, Jonathan Richman, Souixie Souix, Serge Gainsbourg, Glen Danzig, PJ Harvey, Richard Hell, Tom Waits... etc etc etc.

To paraphrase Steven Tyler: Live your lives as though in an elevator: live it up even while going down; love it up until you hit the ground.

Erm, I usually sign cards with a hint of irony, so ymmv, but from Company (Stephen Sondheim): "You're always sorry, you're always grateful, you always wonder what might have been - then she walks in."

or Bonnie Prince Billy? "It's a hard life for a man with no wife."

or K.D. Lang? "Love will not elude us. Love is simple." Not exactly in third person, but.

Nick Cave's "Into My Arms"... it makes me tear up like the little bitch I hate to admit that I am each and every time.

"And I don't believe in the existence of angels
But looking at [you two crazy kids!] I wonder if that's true
But if I did I would summon them together
And ask them to watch over you"

True Love Will Find You In The End, Daniel Johnston

This is a promise with a catch
Only if you're looking will it find you
‘Cause true love is searching too
But how can it recognize you
Unless you step out into the light?
But don’t give up until
True love finds you in the end.

Anything by Bic Runga, but I love these lyrics from Beautiful Collision:

What a beautiful collision,
Things that go bump in the night.

John Marston linked to the Magnetic Fields, my favorite is:

The book of love is long and boring
And written very long ago
It's full of flowers and heart-shaped boxes
And things we're all too young to know but

I...
I love it when you give me things and
You...
You ought to give me wedding rings

Well, perhaps not entirely appropriate, but from Bowie's "Station to Station": It's not the side effects of the cocaine / I'm thinking that it must be love.

How about Jeff Buckley? From "Morning Theft":

Love brings us to who we need
a place where we can save
a heart that beats
as both siphon and reservoir
