I call him HURF DURF shark.

I baked a cake yesterday. I put a shark on top. The shark looks familiar, like he's a character from something, but since any resemblance was accidental I can't place him. Please look at it and tell me what he's from.

Pictures of cake here and here.

He wasn't intentionally drawn to look like anything/anyone, I just free-handed him, but when I gave him eyes I had an omg I know him from somewhere moment.

Anyone recognize him?

Thanks!

It looks like something from the Spongebob Squarepants universe.

He does look like a Nickelodeon or Adult Swim character, and I have a nagging feeling that I have seen him somewhere!

Looks a little like Family Dog.

It's got a Craig McCracken vibe to it. He looks like he'd be right at home in Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.

Response by poster: I've never seen Jabberjaw (or Kenny) before these links, so I doubt it's a Jabberjaw connection I'm drawing.

Right after I put the eyes on I thought he might look like Muddy the Mudskipper from Ren and Stimpy, but after I looked him up I realized that wasn't the case.

There's a theory in the works right now that he looks like a sock puppet used on the Simpsons. We have people investigating this and I'll get back to you.

Best answer: I think he sort of looks like Dag from the Angry Beavers.

He kind of looks like a Butch Hartman creation -- he did the Nickelodeon show Fairly Oddparents, among others.

Family Dog was my first thought, too.

My first thought was Muddy as well. It also reminds me of one of the hand puppets that are occasionally Craig Ferguson's backup singers.

You're right, it does look familiar. My guess was maybe the way they draw sharks in the Bugs Bunny cartoons? It's probably not from any one place, it just looks like a typical way to draw a cartoon shark with anthropomorphic eyes. Just picture it clamped on to the rear end of Sylvester the cat while it raises its eyebrows suggestively.

Not a really close match, but it definitely put me in mind of the Pathetic Sharks, too.

When I loaded the picture and the only thing I could see were the eyes, the first thing I thought of was South Park.

Response by poster: Thanks for the answers, everyone!

As soon as I saw The Race Card's response, I knew that was it. I was definitely thinking Daggett from The Angry Beavers. Man, I logged so many hours of that show. I miss real Nickelodeon.

My shark looks remarkably like the Pathetic Sharks guy, but I've never seen/heard of it before. Interesting.

Thanks!
