How do I keep track of different project ideas?

How do you make note of different project ideas and various information that relates to it? Preferably a system that could scale well between an abstract idea and a really detailed one.

If you're mentioning software, I use OS X and I have an iPhone.

I've got a handful of notebooks but the way I use them right now (ideas strewn across pages, with horizontal lines differentiating ideas, but it's not ideal for me).

I am keeping track of things as varied as tattoo ideas, photography project ideas, and research projects. Ideally I'd like to be able to scroll down a list of my "projects", click on it, and see my collected resources. Be they images, text, or what have you. I'm very open minded to new ideas though.

Thank you in advance!

Best answer: Evernote is pretty powerful, has an iPhone app, and works with both Windows and OSX.

ShoveBox is perfect for this with a slim little Mac Menu item and a syncable iPhone app.
