Camping in the New River Gorge, seeking recommendations for picking a camping area.

I'm driving from Michigan to the New River Gorge next week w/ my 9 & 12 yo boys. We hope to camp, fish, swim and explore for several days before heading south to North Carolina.

The NPS.gov Website shows several camping areas, but they lack specific details like "good for swimming," or more importantly "treacherous swimming."

We'll be getting there late in the day after a very long drive & it'd be great to arrive with a recommendation or some advice from the hive.

hit me.

Here's a good website. I'm a climber and spent many nights at roger's- fantastic campground with a great group of people. For fishing and swimming, I would suggest checking out summersville lake. We always swim from orange oswald, right on summersville lake.

I've been to Babcock State Park, which is east of the gorge. Didn't camp there, but it had a great view, very scenic.
