Looking for good blogs about ADHD

I was recently diagnosed with, and started treatment for, ADHD. I'm looking for some good blogs or other online resources written by/for adults with ADHD.

Thanks to this amazing AskMe post about ADHD, I finally got myself screened for ADHD/ADD. Sure enough, it appears that I have it, and have since I was a kid. I've been on Ritalin LA for a little over a week, and the results are shocking and awesome - I have no side effects, and I'm able to do things like get my work done, clean my house and stay focused in meetings like I never have been able to do before.

But I'm still in the very early stages of dealing with this and I have a lot to learn. I would love to read blogs or other online writing by adults with ADHD. I've read (parts of) You Mean I'm Not Lazy, Stupid or Crazy?! and Delivered from Distraction, but it would be great to read personal accounts of how people deal with ADHD.

I'm especially looking for stuff written by people diagnosed in adulthood and I would especially love to read about how other folks have been able to get organized and be more effective post-treatment. Extra bonus points for good writing!

I've done some google searches but most of what I find is poorly written, about kids with ADHD, or is mostly about medication or comorbid conditions like depression or anxiety. The big ADHD forums have been especially disappointing. During an afternoon of some intense hyperfocus before starting treatment, I read most of the previous AskMe ADHD threads.

Best answer: Unfortunately, there is kind of a black hole when it comes to the kind of thing you're looking for, at least from what I've seen.

Seeing how frequent this kind of post is on MeFi, and how common this kind of experience is in general, I've wondered if it might be useful to set up a group blog/forum dedicated to reasonable, intelligent discussion of ADHD in teens & adults. As you've seen, any similar existing sites seem to suffer from a severe lack of editorial control or moderation.

I know there are a few other people here with insight into this sort of thing. Would anyone else be interested in contributing to such a site? I'd be happy to flagship the project (as I've got a bunch of free time over the summer), but ideally I'd have a good group to work with/bounce ideas off/etc.

(Sorry for thread-jacking, but I've been thinking about this for a while and figured it was at leas optimistically relevant.)

Totally ADD

Best answer: Oops - Totally ADD is all about Adult ADHD, and has tons of videos and other resources (including a discussion forum). It was created by two Canadian comedians (Rick Green and Patrick McKenna, of "The Red Green Show"), both of whom have ADHD, following their documentary ADD and Loving It (which is also great - watching it really helped my parents understand what I deal with/what I had been dealing with as an adult with undiagnosed ADHD).

Have a look at Gina Pera's blog. She also has a book Is It You, Me, or Adult A.D.D.? which focuses on relationships where one partner has ADD. (Full disclosure: I know the author and get an acknowledgment in the book.)

Response by poster: Purlygurly, thanks for the rec, that site looks great and a lot of fun.

Dantekgeek and ifdqsn9, I like this idea a lot! I've been thinking about starting my own blog but, well, I keep starting blogs and abandoning them after a few weeks (ADHD!), so doing some sort of group project might be a better idea. A community of smart people talking about their ADHD experiences - that could be really cool.

dantekgeek, I might also be interested. (Of course I may be optimistically overscheduling myself in that ADHD fashion!)

Super excited to see interest in my proposal! Anyone interested should meta-mail me with their email address and I'll get everyone connected. I'll hold off on doing that until tomorrow afternoon though, just in case anyone new see this. (Oh man, I already have an awesome name for the site!)
