Transfer from a debit card to a bank account

How can I transfer from a NYS Direct Payment Card into a bank account?

My sister has a New York State Department of Labor Direct Payment Card, the balance of which she wants to transfer to her checking account.

What is the best way to go about this? Both the card and her checking are with Chase, which doesn't offer any way to transfer through its website. The account can't be merged either (that I've found).

ATM doesn't sound like fun; all those twenties. Any other options?

Best answer: So from what I gather, this Direct Payment Card is just a Mastercard debit card.

When I had a VISA gift card that I wanted to get the money off of, I took it into my bank (Wachovia) and they had no problem transferring the money to my checking account. They had a card machine behind the counter where they slid the card. I believe I just filled out a deposit slip. Maybe Chase can do the same for you?

Best answer: Looks like rancidcickn has it... from the FAQ about the cards She should be able to take the cash out at her bank and just deposit it to her checking account.
