Recommendations for San Diego wedding planners?
We live in Phoenix, but we're looking at getting married along the California coast, so we'd like someone to set up venue tours and potentially work with them to plan the wedding. We're looking for planners for the so-cal / san diego area (between San Diego and Newport Beach), especially featuring:
- experience with many venues along the coast and in Temecula
- local knowledge
- reasonable price
- able to set up venue tours fairly quickly (2 weeks away)
Personal recommendations from your wedding or weddings you attended in the area would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Best answer: I really liked my planner, Mellissa Barrad of I Do...Weddings!. We hired her mostly as a day-of planner but she did that well. She did give us some ideas on certain vendors, but we handled all the coordination. Our wedding was up in Temecula and she did know of certain vendors in the area. mefi-mail me if you want more info.

Response by poster: We spoke with several planners and actually ended up going with Melissa, so thanks escher! For future reference, it looks like there are professional organizations for event planners; members are expected to uphold a code of ethics and stuff, so they're reasonably safe bets. In San Diego, for example, we looked up the Association of Bridal Consultants, National Association of Catering Executives (NACE), and the Bridal Bar of San Diego.
