Recommend goa trance and digital hardcore musical acts (similar to Onoken)?

Friend of mine recently discovered Onoken and CANNOT get enough. What similar musical acts can you recommend?

Wikipedia classifies Onoken as "goa trance" and "digital hardcore."
An example of one of his songs is here (SLYT). (This particular song is a favorite of his.)

Friend says he likes the stuff most that focuses on strings and synth.

Paul Oakenfold - Goa Mix (aka the silver / gold mix) from 1994 is the most legendary of its kind. Here is an MP3 Download / Stream of it.

And there is some history and additional information about it here.

maybe underworld, for example cowgirl. This one is a bit of a stretch, but when I was programing full time and listening to alot of this sort of music I really liked Tabla Beat Science too.

I don't know how 'digital hardcore' is defined, but that really doesn't sound terribly hardcore in any way I'd describe it. It does, however, sound like Infected Mushroom might be a group to look into.

The song you linked to reminds me of BT, although his catalog is varied and you'll find lots of different sounds. Start with the album "ESCM" and see if he likes that.

Best answer: First off, this guide is a few years old but absolutely essential for figuring out genres of electronic music. If anything, just based on your YT link, I would call the genre "high energy melodic video-game trance", although I'm not sure trance is the right noun because the beat isn't really trancey. It reminds me most of some of this amateur artist's older stuff, although this is more drum and bass.

Also, it has a lot in common (energy, electronic, video game heritage) with demostyle music. You might download some of the mixes here and see if there is anything you like, then google the artist (or look on Nectarine) for more of their work. Note: this is all amateur so the quality may vary.

Oh one more artist I though of while listening to your sample is Pendulum. Again, they are more drum and bass but very melodic and high energy.

Juno Reactor is often listed as "goa trance." I'm not extensively familiar with goa trance, but Juno Reactor is awesome.
