What might cause a straight vertical skin discoloration from nostril to lip?

You are not my doctor, but a couple weeks ago, during a minor bout of common cold (probably), I noticed that a straight vertical line appeared on my upper lip, from right nostril down. It looks a bit like I haven't shaved properly, but it's not just a line of dark whisker follicles. The cold has gone away, but the line is still there. Any ideas what it might be?

I don't know . . . but the same thing happened to me right after I used my Neti Pot a few weeks ago. It hadn't happened before and it hasn't happened since. I just chalked it up to perhaps some broken blood vessels or something (although it was oddly a very straight line from nostril to lip). It only lasted a few days, however.

When I was a kid I sneezed so hard I broke some blood vessels in my face. That's probably what it is, although I didn't end up with any straight lines.
