In search of a cleft-footed Giant

Baseball Trivia Filter (really, really trivial): A couple weeks ago, during the LA broadcast of the Dodgers-Giants game, Vin Scully mentioned that one of the Giants' players ran very well considering that he had been born with a cleft-foot. My Google-Fu has failed me. Can anyone tell me who this cleft-footed athlete is?

Sure it wasn't club foot?

Freddy Sanchez.

Best answer: Yeah, club foot, and it was Sanchez, I was listening to that game. But I believe he did say "cleft".

He does that sometimes. He's old. Still the best voice in baseball, though.

Response by poster: Curiosity satisfied! Thanks for the quick answers. And yes, Vin is a bit old, but he's the best!

Not the guy you're looking for, but Jim Mecir was also born with club feet.
