A question about Robocop 2. Really.

Robocop 2, for those of you who've missed this *ahem* masterpiece, involved a drug called Nuke. I need to know the name of the capsules the drug came in.

In the movie, the drug came in disposable plastic tubes. You twist off one end to expose the needle, jam it into your neck, and squeeze to inject.

I'm writing a screenplay involving a fictitious drug, and I want to know if that's a real delivery method (and what the name of it is), or if it's something they made up for the movie.

Best answer: You mean a syrette?

Syrettes are what you're thinking of, or if not, exactly what you need.

There's also the autoinjector that's even cooler. It automatically injects the drug. The example most people know is the EpiPen.

The props they used for NUKE in the movie were dispensers for artificial tears (like these, but a different brand) filled with food color and carried around in cassette cases. I remember seeing the particular brand of artificial tears and going 'I recognize that!!!'. The tiny barbs shown on the props in some closeups are impractical because they aren't long enough.

Response by poster: The syrettes are indeed absolutely perfect.

I considered the autoinjector, but this drug is meant to be cheap and ubiquitous. The empty syrettes, littered on the sidewalks, will make a great visual. Thanks a lot!

That reminds me of this scene from Season 1 of The Wire. At about 1:50 in, Bubbles starts explaining about "dead soldiers" and the bottoms of a junkie's shoes.
