How to move to Fairbanks?

Looking for advice/suggestions for moving a household from outside Philadelphia to Fairbanks.
We've got 2 little kids (4 and 1), 2 cars, and a household of stuff. We've got $14,000 to help with the move---but ideally that would get us and all our stuff there.
Drive from here to there? moving company (which will likely take a month) for the cars and all the stuff, and we fly? One of those U-Pack-it pod shippers? Drive to Seattle and take the ferry (fun, but expensive)?
Good moving companies?
We're shooting to make it to Fairbanks around Aug. 12, and we can leave anytime after July 25.

Honestly, I'd recommend selling as much as you can, shipping everything else (the amount will determine a pod or moving company), and flying out there. Have you asked a moving company for an estimate? They'll come to your house and give you an estimate based on the amount of stuff you have. Make sure you find one that will guarantee a price within a certain percentage (5-10% or whatever) otherwise they'll jack up the price on moving day.
Ask around to your new faculty friends in Alaska how they got their crap up there -- they'll definitely have suggestions for moving companies and prices for local things (like used couches, kids stuff, kitchen supplies). The last thread mentioned how expensive things are up there so you'll have to balance cost for moving with cost for buying.
I just don't think a roadtrip for that long with kids that young would be very fun. It would be better to spend time up there, doing a few little roadtrips or camping once you're up there -- go see the bears at that park, etc. Three weeks on the road with a four year-old and a one year-old just doesn't sound awesome to me -- but you know your kids best.
Congrats on making the big move up there!
