My fiance and I are going to Rincon, Puerto Rico for a week. What should we do while we're there?

Btw, my fiance is interested in doing some diving, if anyone knows of a good dive shop it would be much appreciated.

Taino Divers, really nice folks. Also you must have breakfast at La Rosa Inglesa , it's a crazy drive up a mountain on a one lane road to get there (an adventure in itself, ask for directions and go slow in low gear, but go). Gorgeous place, wonderful people. A lot of the beachside hotels have kind of cruddy food, but if you head out the big surf side you can find better places. Have fun, rincon is awesome.

We just got back from two weeks in PR, touring the whole island. We spent three nights in Rincon. The Tapas Bar at Casa Islena Inn is a real gem, and El Cerdito Del Cielito on 115 across from Rincon Shopping Center has great barbeque, good ribs and actual fresh fish (a rarity in PR) cooked to perfection. I had a macaroni and cheese side there that was delightful, we were the last meal of the night and the cheese was smooth and the noodles were cooked al dental. I don't know how he does it. If you need a haircut go to the bar by the marina next door to The Shipwreck and ask for Joe, he's got a salon a block off the square and does a good job. (8 bucks!) Gary runs Flying Fish Parasails, which if you like that sort of thing might be the sort of thing you like. The Arecibo Observatory is fairly close, and worth the drive. Then again, there's nothing wrong with sitting on the beach, drinking Medalla and watching the surfers.
Have fun!

Get great seafood at El Flamboyant restaurant on Calle C in barrio Puntas — but go early because when the owner/chef feels like he's done for the evening, he closes the place!

Do you surf? If not, take a lesson — I met my teacher at the bar next to Marias, but there are outfits all over.

Whichever dive shop you find, the prize destination is Desecheo Island about 12 miles offshore.

Also I just like driving up the little roads into the hills between Rt. 115 and Rt. 2 and fantasizing about buying a house... or a bar.

I'm glad that place is still open, it looked on its last legs when I was there this summer. It looks like a dump, but it really does has the freshest fish in Rincon. Decent BBQ too and a fine Pina Colada.

Oh — and just south of town on the coast is the Villa Cofresi hotel which has a great bar on the beach where they make a drink called a pirata which you might enjoy :)
