How do I bend an image around a sphere in Illustrator?

Illustrator CS3: How can I 'bend' an image around a sphere like this? I tried the steps here, but I cannot make the sphere invisible, so my shape is shown on a colored sphere. I don't want to see the sphere, just the perspective on the shape. Thanks.

When the Map Art box is open, make sure the Invisible Geometry option is checked.

This worked for me in CS2. I'm not sure where the Invisible Geometry option is specifically in CS3.
