How do I export video from a game on the original half life engine?

I am trying to make videos from Day of Defeat, which runs on the original half-life Engine (not the source engine.) I know how to record the demo so that it saves as a .dem file, but how would I export it so I could make an .avi file that I could then upload to Youtube?

All tutorials I've found thus far are for the source engine, and seem to make it very clear that they are intended for the source engine. This, of course, implies that the process is different for the original half life engine. This shouldn't be as hard as it is.

Best answer: You could try something like fraps (or taksi) and record the ingame demo playback.
