Persol make popular sunglasses that shape. Used in the recent Bond films. I'm not sure the shape has a name. posted by fire&wings at 1:50 PM on January 11
Are they as wide, though? 10-15 years ago we used to buy $5 biker shades called "Mad Dogs" that had the same general curves, the little horn bit at the arm (shoulder? :), but scaled down generally. Much shorter than narrower, so maybe more like a children's version of what you're trying to describe.
Unfortunately there appear to be a zillion sunglass designs called "Mad Dog" now, so I can't find an image. They're not the LOCS or Oakley style, though. posted by rhizome at 1:50 PM on January 11
A lot of bikers wear these and I myslf have several pair in different colors. posted by Jules22871 at 1:53 PM on January 11
I think I must have seen the Persols, though the "Mad Dog Locs" are very similar, the jewel things on the side is what made them wayfarers to me.

Ray-Ban and Persol are of the same company (Luxxotica). Ray Ban makes a smaller lens Wayfarer as well. posted by Zambrano at 2:24 PM on January 11
Actually, if you are trying "staying ahead" of the prols, it's the large framed Wayfarers that are cool again. posted by Zambrano at 2:28 PM on January 11
I bought a pair of Wayfarer-esque sunglasses that sound like what you're talking about from H&M for £5 ($7.50) last year. They're so cheap they're practically disposable, and they're actually quite stylish to boot. posted by hnnrs at 2:34 PM on January 11
Zambrano - Do you know the name of the Ray Bans?
And the large framed wayfarers are what I've been wearing, but now the hipsters are starting to wear them in this college town I live in. I'm not giving them up, though. posted by cmoj at 4:58 PM on January 11
The smaller frame Wayfarers are called "Wayfarer II". posted by Zambrano at 5:38 PM on January 11
