What was the name of this British radio series?

A while back I had a job as a radio archivist and I dubbed a few episodes of a very trippy British serial that I believe originally aired on the BBC during the late '70s or early '80s. It involved some sort of quest for knowledge, had Buddhist (or at least eastern spiritual) overtones and was often accompanied by psychedelic background music. Anyone have any idea what the name of this series might have been?

I apologize for not being able to give more detail, but this was a number of years ago and I only dubbed two or three episodes, so I can't remember much about the plot.

That's a TV series...I'm looking for a radio show.

Whoops. Okay – a long shot – the BBC's Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy features psychedelic background music (the Eagles' Journey of the Sorcerer), involves a quest for knowledge (spoiler: 42) and general loopiness that is sometimes tangentially Buddhist (I'm looking at you, Agrajag).

Sorry, I should have ruled out Hitchhiker's Guide in the post...no, I'm familiar with that one, and that wasn't it. Thanks for taking a shot at it, though.

The Psychedelic Spy, perhaps? BBC radio, first aired in 1990. Description and episode guide (and it seems to be all over the torrent sites).

Possibly Moon Over Morocco, or one of the other Jack Flanders serials? I know those messed with my head quite a bit in my younger days.

Yes! It wasn't Moon Over Morocco, but The Fourth Tower Of Inverness! Thanks a bunch!
