Where can I find a fake burrito?

I need a fake Chipotle burrito. Unfortunately it doesn't look like there's a big market for plush Mexican food toys. Where can I find (or make) one?

I was almost hoping Chipotle would have something along the lines of Culvers' Team Scoopie plush ice cream figures, but no such luck. Is there any sort of "fake food" store? If not, I'm perfectly happy making something myself - though it can't just be a roll of tin foil, as this will need to be able to be unwrapped.

Thanks for any ideas!

If I were you, I'd troll through Etsy.com and look for someone who makes other sorts of plush animals and see if they would be willing to make one for you.

Yeah, etsy was my first thought also.

Maybe you could try wrapping half of this fake taco in aluminum foil (and add some padding, if necessary, to round out the shape) and see if it could pass for a Chipotle burrito?

Yes, there is such a thing as a fake food store. They even sell plastic tortillas. They have rice and other vegetables that look like you could modify them to resemble the linked burrito in your question.

Beware, however, Nasco is a profoundly disturbing retailer and imitation whiskey is only the beginning of a very, very deep rabbit hole.

A fake Chipotle burrito would be pretty easy to make with felt. The tortilla is self-explanatory, wrap and glue, but felt is 3d enough to make the insides, too. You could cut small red squares and glue two each together to give them more thickness, for the salsa, and maybe 3 each of brown for steak/chicken. You could do a few flat green bits for lettuce/guac, and cut tiny ovals for rice.

As a bonus, felt is dirt cheap, and this seems easy enough to accomplish with a hot glue gun (the exception being the rice, which you might want to glue with tacky glue or elmer's to avoid a mess).

An important point though, will it be presented like the picture, or do you want it to be unwrappable? Because clearly, the felt won't rip open or anything. But if it will be like the picture, another idea is to fill the bulk of the thing with cotton or some other stuffing and just do the felt veggies at the end. This fits more with the plushie idea, too.

I have to say, as someone who really, really loves Chipotle, I'm glad this is first Ask MeFi post I'm answering. (Also, I want to try it now!)

Response by poster: Man, I always forget about etsy, but it always seems to be the answer to my questions. This burrito looks rather promising.

SputnikSweetheart: After finding that piece on etsy, I thought about using felt for my own..thanks for the tips. Ideally I want the whole thing to be able to be unwrapped, but I do like your idea of stuffing the back end of it.

Holy crap Stet, that is a very, very deep rabbit hole.

Niles, if you want to be able to unroll it, maybe buy all the components at enasco then roll the whole thing up in tinfoil?

Here's another fake food store. It's crazy expensive though, and they don't have a burrito, apparently.

You're looking for soft Mexican food? This etsy-selling dealer specializes in it (but I found this link from the SoCal craft fair question, and the taco is fantastic). etsy shop
