I know some folks who are going to honeymoon in Portland, OR soon. They're arriving in the middle of next week and will be there for 10-14 days. I'd love to be able to point them to cool weird quirky things going on that they may not easily find in tourist magazines etc. They're about 40, not huge on hiking and I'm not sure what styles of music they like. They're already planning to get head-sized donuts at Voodoo and I've rhapsodised at them about Powells. Hope me, hive mind!

Hi! I'm going to be in Portland in a couple of weeks visiting friends in the Grant Park neighborhood. I'm staying with them, but I have two days where they're at work and I will be entertaining myself (which I am looking forward to). So my husband and I are considering an international trip (Scandinavia), and possibly renting a car. When I started googling this, it seems like a large percentage of rental cars in these countries are stick-shift. While there are some automatic transmission options, I'd want to be prepared in case a rental company screwed me and gave me a manual (I'm usually unlucky when I travel). I'm having real difficulty however finding driving school options in/near Portland, OR that will teach stick. Please help! [more inside]

Looking for a few quick recommendations for my trip to Portland, Oregon this weekend.
