I'm solo parenting for the first time for this year's summer trip with my kids (10 and 14). Spouse will be working. Trying to decide between Nova Scotia's north coast or Prince Edward Island. And then figure out a good strategic base to plant ourselves so we can do a few reasonably short daytrips. Current mood: feeling overwhelmed by the travel guides. [more inside]

We'll be wandering around Nova Scotia for a couple weeks in September. We've got accommodations and some activities figured out. But can you recommend some things we might not have thought of for activities, as well as great places to eat (as in interesting and not touristy)? Our time will concentrate on spending several days in each of these areas: Digby to Wolfville; Halifax to Lunenburg; Cape Breton (Ceilidh trail, Cabot Trail, Louisbourg); Eastern Shore drive; day or two in Maitland area for tidal bore rafting and recovery. We're headed to Nova Scotia in August, and are looking forward to long beach walks & maybe discovering the odd amethyst or two. Can anyone recommend B&Bs or hotels on the Nova Scotia side of the Bay of Fundy? Ideally within 20 minutes' walk of the beach, around $100 per night or so. Thank you!

A friend and I are planning a road trip from Boston to Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia. We've got six days total (Friday, June 30th until Wednesday, July 4th).
