80s tv question. When i was a young man i remember this show that was semi fanasty with a plot around swordsmen who had a sword but also a dirk would come out of the hilt of the sword. This is all i remember if anyone could guide me more would apprecaite it. Show would have been before 85.
Response by poster: Wasnt cartoon was real people. Should have include that there was an fanasty knight element to it thank you for responding.

I immediately thought of that because the show I just mentioned has come up before. This previous AskMe has links to clips and such from Wizards and Warriors.

Just another... The Blind Swordsman Zatoichi also has a dagger in the handle of his sword. But he's 60s samurai flick so maybe it's where they got the idea from.

Then there's The Sword and the Sorcerer in which it kind of became a running gag that the titular sword, which started out as this enormous three-bladed monstrosity (two of which could literally be launched like rockets) kept breaking down into smaller and smaller weapons as the movie went on.
God that was a stupid movie. I loved it to death.

Oh yeah, the triblade. I'm fairly certain that either it or the sword that Cromwell wielded had the same kind of out-popping-dirk feature, too. Awesomely bad flick.
