Why is the Archive command missing from Outlook's File menu?
It used to be there - I've used it! There are no group policies at my company affecting it (I've verified with IT).

Response by poster: Nope - just tested that.
Also, FYI, this is Outlook 2007.

I don't have an answer, but if you're desperate to archive, why not try AutoArchive?
1. On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Other tab.
2. Click AutoArchive.
3. Watch magic unfold

Response by poster: Thanks, but it's not the system I'm using. I like to archive off my Sent folder quarterly - AA won't let you do things folder-by-folder.

You can just drag everything in the sent folder to your sent folder in archives. I do it all the time.

I don't know why its gone, but you should be able to put it back. Try this:
1. On the Tools menu, click Customize, and then click the Commands Tab.
2. Click the Rearrange Command button.
3. Select Menu Bar radio button and File from the drop down box.
4. If Archive isn't listed in the window under the Controls section you have two options:
--i. Click the Reset button to reset the File menu to the way it is when Outlook 2007 is first installed.
--ii. Click the Add button, select File in the categories section, select Archive in the commands section, click OK, and then select Archive from the Controls section and use the Move Up and Move Down buttons to place it where you want it on the File menu (default is directly below Import and Export).
Hope that helps you out.

Response by poster: Man, ChazB - sounded like a great idea. Unfortunately Archive wasn't there after Reset, and it wasn't in the list! It's GONE Baby GONE!

It was worth a shot. If IT is 100% certain that no GPOs are causing it, and my fix didn't help, then I'm stumped. I tried extensive searching of the Google, but nothing helpful turned up. This may sound stupid, but did you try rebooting your computer? Beyond that, backup all of your Outlook data and reinstall. Maybe a repair installation will work. Harass IT some more, they may have some ideas too.

Response by poster: Thanks for searching. Really. Stumped me too. And I know another guy who has the same issue. And some searching showed other people with it as well, but... going to reinstall I guess.
