SCUBA and snorkeling in Los Suenos and Jaco Costa Rica

Looking for SCUBA and snorkeling spots in Los Suenos/Jaco Costa Rica area...and other fun things/places to do/go!

We will be staying at the Los Suenos Marriott Ocean & Golf Resort next week and are looking for good snorkeling and SCUBA diving spots in the area. For snorkeling, preferably someplace we could drive to a beach. For SCUBA, a reputable company to dive with for maybe three days or so.

I found some time ago a really great place for diving in the area...a "not to miss" spot, but I can't find my notes on it.

Thanks!

The only place that I know for diving in Costa Rica is Isla del Coco. Definitely a "not to miss" spot, but it is a 34 hour boat ride from the mainland. Lots of sharks. Sorry if this isn't helpful, but Costa Rica isn't really known for their diving.

Though about it, trying to come up with helpful info. I don't stay at resorts when I am in Costa Rica, so I have a different perspective. Snorkeling isn't so great either. Costa Rica has virtually no reef systems. Jaco is in Puntarenas province, which, outside of the resorts on the coast, has a lot of farms and ranches. I don't know what your idea of fun is, so I will throw out ideas. If you are interested in resort-y sort of things (not that this is bad) stay on the coast. There are fantastic national parks in Costa Rica, but directions can be a little tricky. Guanacaste is interesting. The south by Panama has rain forest galore. If you like, you can send me a message, let me know what kind of stuff you like to do, and I might be able to suggest something more up your alley.
