Internet Telephony - What is the best way - quality and price - to do PC to PC or PC to phone communication with Windows? Headset recommendations (wireless??) ? USB versus soundcard plugs?

Best answer: Skype is a great place to start. Windows, very user friendly, and works in almost all firewall/network configurations.

Also, most of the Instant Messaging clients such as Yahoo and MSN Instant Messenger have built-in voice communication that is usually very straightforward.

USB headset would be preferred due to ease of setup and reduction in number of cords, but my 2-plugger going into the soundcard works fine, and I use it nearly every day in both MSN and Skype for work. Take my advice and get one with an inline volume control. Much easier to roll the little knob between your fingers than to seek out the windows volume control several times per discussion.
