How do I stop a fraudulent mail redirection from the U.S. to the UK?

Someone I do not know has redirected their mail (debt collection letters) from their address in the U.S. to my address in the UK, without my permission.

Can it be stopped, and who do I tell?

I know it's long distance (and an irritating time difference) for you but the USPS phone help line is surprisingly helpful. USPS.gov will have a look up for the post office in the zip code of the mail that's been redirected to you. Call that post office and explain the situation and they will tell you what to do to stop it.

First result in a Google search for "mail fraud": U.S. Postal Inspection Service. The link goes to a complaint form. That sounds like a good place to start. "Failure to Pay" is one of the choices in the box, and that sounds about right.
