Autmatic eBay notifications by email

Is there a program available (or an easy way to program one) that will check eBay for new listings of a certain product and send me an email if a new one is found?

eBay will do this very thing for you.

Extending pocams comment, Ebay also have the capability to save searches as an RSS feed. Hunt through the ebay help pages.

I've done RSS feeds for several different searches. If you can create a search for it, eBay will RSS it for you. I got one going Rod Carew's appearances in magazines and trunks being sold within 50 miles of Charlotte. Any search you do you can look at the bottom of the page and you will see an RSS symbol. It works great.

As pocams said, eBay does this and it works well- I saved a search for a specific item and forgot all about it, so it was a pleasant surprise when I got the e-mail about the listing.

I worked on a job for a client that wanted this very thing -- ebay's search functionality wasn't good enough, as he wanted to know THE VERY INSTANT something was posted that matched his criteria (I think ebay's notifications are only daily) so that he could snatch it up. I wrote him a few Perl scripts to do what he wanted, but then it ended up turning into a full-fledged (subscription-based) site that offers this functionality plus bid-sniping ability. If you're interested in the address, MeMail me.

Doofus, it would not be breaking the rules to just post the link here, if that's a public site, albeit subscription-based.

Yup. Especially with full disclosure, self-links in comments are fine. This one seems quite relevant.

But you can't just snap up an eBay listing the very instant it's posted. Can you? I guess if it's a fixed-price or buy-it-now listing you can... but with standard auctions a little more notice isn't going to help.

It's www.bidtrix.com.

I think that generally the auctions my client was interested in were exclusively BIN auctions, otherwise the site isn't much more useful than ebay's notifications. We had it set up where he could reply to the email notification (which got sent to him via SMS) to place the BIN bid, but I don't think that's part of the subscription model on the site.
