Remember this quote on practicing?

When I was an undergrad (the first time) I saw a quote on the door of one of my music professor's doors. The subject had to do with practicing and I swear it used the phrase "On Tackling the Beast". I think the quote was from a book but I can't remember. Sound familiar to anyone?

Response by poster: A good quote, but not quite what I was looking for Misha.

Something from Funky Winkerbean perhaps? I recall my music teachers in middle school had a bunch of posters with humorous quotes.

Response by poster: Just to clarify, the quote wasn't intended to be humorous.

Was the quote taken out of context, or was the quote in direct reference to the act of music rehearasl? If it was the former, perhaps the following lyrics from Joni Mitchell's "Hana"?
You've got to be braver than that You tackle the beast alone With all its tenacious teeth! Light the lamp.
