UK based food info site

Can anyone recommend a site like FitDay.com but with an English base?

Part of my drive to get fit means I want to plot out what I eat, where I'm going overboard and where I'm missing out.

Fitday.com seems to do most of what I want, but I'm sick of trying to translate everything into cups and would like it to have some idea what UK brand foods are.

Does such a thing exist for this side of the water? It seems like a perfect 'google question', but I'll be damned if I can find any useful answers...

SparkPeople has many tools for calorie counting and also fitness tracking. It has a lot of foods in its database and you can also enter your own. I find the UI somewhat annoying, but it is free.

I swear, someday the mods are going to permban me because I recommend this program so much. I do not work for them mods, I really don't.

But Cron-o-meter is like fitday, but it isn't internet based. You can add your own units into it and it's base unit is a gram, so it should work nicely for you.

Hope that was helpful.

I generally prefer Fitday because I think it's pretty easy to use and as I'm American, I think in terms of cups and ounces.

However, I do get frustrated at not being able to find UK branded foods on it and that is where The Daily Plate is really good. In the times I've used it, I've been able to find almost every UK branded food I've searched for. Just now, when checking for Tesco's Healthy Living cottage cheese, I see that it showed the serving size in grams (with ounces in brackets), so presumably all the other foods are in UK measurements as well and you won't have to mentally convert. Another good thing about the site is that it will show healthier alternatives to the food you're looking at, based on whatever criteria you choose (calories, fat, carbs etc).

Hope it helps!
