Open Source version of MS Publisher?

Is there an open-source equivalent to MS Publisher?
My son needs to do a project for his English class that has to look like a newsletter and Publisher would seem to be the easiest way to achieve the required look. Before I download the free trial I wondered if there was an Open Office type equivalent. Thanks.

You mentioned getting the demo of Publisher, so I'm assuming you are running Windows. Here's info on how to install Scribus under Windows.

If the newsletter has only one page Inkscape might also be a nice option.
