RAM Woes

I own a Dell Inspiron 9100 that uses 200-pin DDR PC3200 SODIMM RAM. I've found a good deal on 200-pin DDR2 PC2-5300 667MHz SODIMM RAM. Would this be backward compatible? Can't seem to find a quick answer on this, many thanks mefites.

Best answer: DDR and DDR2 are not compatible. They work on different voltages (2.5V vs 1.8V). The DIMMs should be keyed differently to prevent you from even plugging it in.

Best answer: DDR2 and DDR have different pin patterns. They would not be compatible. However, any DDR memory at or above PC3200 would be acceptable.
