Find the original of this 'shopped image

Help me find the source image used to create this photoshop piece

I came across this image online, and I swear I've seen part of it before, but I can't locate the original. Any information would be appreciated.

I wonder if you might be thinking of some of the surreal art of Roger Dean. I don't think he was specifically involved in the particular picture you've linked to, but he's done a lot of stuff that looks like that. Cover art for Yessongs and Fragile, in particular, are in that vein.

Looks like the concept work for The Fountain. Several artists have varied this theme, and the idea of a tree floating in the sky has been done by Salvador Dali (most famously) as well as many others. Particularly popular image with fantasy novel cover artists.

Kind of reminds me of something by Jerry Uelsmann. He did various photos like this.

There is a lot (LOT) of artwork with this theme up at Deviant Art. Seriously, they should have a category just for "floating detached tree islands"
