Where in Houston, Texas would you take a visiting guest to show off this town’s uniqueness & have fun?
The guests are coming in from LA, Ca. and will be here September 14th & 15th. I’ve already researched sporting venues for the date.

Maybe a brief pass by the Book Stop, for novelty's sake.

The Heads of State semi-public art exhibit is fun and unusual.

The heads of state are indeed awesome. I also recommend the Orange Show, like pomegranate said. If they like modern art, the Menil gallery is great.

Aurora Picture Show is wonderful. They have a wide range of programming. The Orange Show is great, as is the Beer Can House. Don't forget a boat tour of the Ship Channel.
I second votes for the Menil Collection (best art bookstore in the midwest) and Forbidden Gardens.
Don't forget food! Everyone eats out in Houston. A big favorite is Hugo's .

I find I often have to fight apologizing for Houston, like there's not interesting things to do here. There is, it's just such a drive to get anywhere it's easy to forget about it all.
